Love, above all things
'Love, above all things' is based on the poem 'The Highwayman' by Alfred Noyes. It tells the story of Bess the landlords daughter, who is in love with a highwayman. However the Highwayman is wanted by the authorities and they use Bess as bait to capture him. Held hostage in her own house she hears the Highwayman riding towards his doom and fires a warning shot to try and stop him. Then all hell breaks loose.
For fans of the poem you will notice that much has been left out, however I had a limit on how long this film could be and so I had to cut some parts. You will also notice that this version ends rather more tragically than the original, but I felt it made it all the more poignant and beautiful.

My favourite shot in this film - and also the hardest to do - is the shot of the Highwayman riding through the woods. This short video shows how it started as just an outline and when coloured in became the finished shot in the film.
