2025 was a very eventful year for me! I put on my first solo exhibition, I opened my shop, I painted a new mural - I did a lot of new and at times scary things in 2025 but it will definitely be a year I won't forget! Here are a few of the highlights...

My latest project is complete! Over the last few weeks I've been painting a space themed photo wall for Xplore! Science Discovery Centre in Wrexham to promote the new planetarium they're opening next year. It was painted across four equal sized wooden panels and pieced together on the wall. The names of the planets are in both English and Welsh and although I tried to sneak Pluto in there too they made me take it out (boo!).
Painting on wood was a bigger challenge than I expected as it really soaks up the paint so it took several layers to get bright colours. Jupiter especially has about four layers of paint in places. It was fun to do; I haven't done anything space themed for ages. This is going to sound weird but one of the bits I most proud of on this is the government logo I drew by hand at the bottom - it looks surprisingly accurate considering I drew it freehand! Hopefully it will inspire a new generation of space explorers to reach for the stars! Here is a painting I made called 'Hello Pluto'. It's based on the first high resolution image of Pluto sent back by the New Horizons space probe. It's rather large (39.5in x 39.5in) but I felt a painting of a whole planet should be. I've always felt sorry for Pluto ever since it got demoted from planet status, so now that it's getting some recognition at last I thought I'd celebrate it in paint! You go Pluto! Below is a time lapse video of how this painting was created. It's something I mean to do all the time and I finally remembered. Hope you like it! This week I came across a wonderful gallery of unusual, beautiful and at times down right adorable caterpillars, and the moths and butterflies they turn into. My attention has often been diverted from some practical undertaking, often accompanied by the phrase "ooo look a butterfly!" They are magical little creatures, and these pictures just further my love of them even more. I also feel that moths get an unusually bad name a lot if the time, but when you look at the flannel moth don't you just want to hug it! You can never have too many pretty pictures in your day - Enjoy! Source: Bored Panda
As much as I love art I also love science, especially space. So when science and art combine I find it very exciting - just check this out! This is the Midnight Planetarium timepiece designed by Van Cleef and Arpels. It tracks each of the six planets visible from Earth independently at their true orbital speed. As well as showing the exact position of these planets it's also an actual watch, with a shooting star that shows the time. Isn't it just beautiful? Source: IFLScience |
