I added two new art prints to my shop this week: 'Hello Pluto!' and 'Sadie in the Sky'. I had forgotten all about my Pluto painting until someone asked if I could do a print of it, so I did! 'Sadie in the Sky' was tricky as the original painting is very wide and it was hard trying to decide which bit to centre on.
Head on over to The Art Bunny Shop if one or both of these capture your imagination!

NEW PAINTINGS!!! I recently completed two new paintings both featuring the North Wales coast.
The first is a from a photo I took of my old dog Sadie running along the beach in Llandudno when the wet send was reflecting the sky. As soon as I took this photo I new it would make a great painting. I did have a false start with this one. The first painting I started just wasn't going in the direction I wanted it to, so I decided to crap it half way though and start from scratch and I'm really glad I did because the finished painting was exactly what I had pictured in my head. The second painting is also from a photo I took many years ago of some cormorants and herring gulls sitting on wooden posts in the sea off the coast of Rhos-on-Sea. I tried hard to be loose and free with this one because I tend to be a bit pedantic over small details sometimes. It was a challenge to leave it a little rough around the edges but I did it and I love it! (The little painter inside me is finding it very hard too leave it be though!) Both of these paintings were a new challenge for me in as I haven't done many water based landscapes. It was fun finding the colours and textures of water in different situations. I found I really enjoy painting the sea and will definitely be doing it more in the future! 2020 - who knew! It's been a year none of us will ever forget that's for sure. It's hard to believe that the start of lockdown was way back at the end of March! During the lockdown I finished off quite a few art projects. Some are up on the website for you to see and some you'll have to wait until next year for (exciting stuff!). I also had fun making some personal arts and crafts things. Here are some of things I made during lockdown! A rainbow for the NHS (complete with Zippy!). Some new signs for the garden - one for Sadie's path and one for the hedgehog house. A old fashioned street light for the fairy house made from matchsticks. Some cute little ducks on a bar stool for a friend. A set of nick-nack drawers for the kitchen featuring stuff that we love (that's Sadie's food face!).
The festive season is upon us and so is this year's Art Bunny Christmas banner! Artemis and Sadie have teamed up to help wrap some special Christmas presents - although it looks like they've got themselves into a bit of a mess!
I've had a busy summer in the cake making department! I've made a princess, several cars, trolls, flowers and some sheet music from scratch! Below is a photo of each cake, but if you'd like to see more detailed photos and the story behind each one please head over to my Cakes page. Although I had lots of fun making all of these cakes it was sad doing each one without my little Sadie to help clean up after me. Also, now that she's gone I've realised how much mess I male when I'm baking! x x
Sadie Poorly Leg. First came the biopsy of her leg. She had been limping a while and her leg had started to swell. Me and Stu thought it was arthritis but the biopsy showed it to be cancer. She sported a blue sock for a couple of days (although it kept falling off every few hours!) and after a couple of weeks of indecision we decided that her leg was just holding her back and she would be better off without it. Sadie Three Legs. Sadie lost her leg the last week of July 2017. She walked out of the vets all by herself and was a trooper right from the start. It was hard work for her at first but once she built up some muscle in the right places there was no stopping her! She amazed us and the vets with how well she dealt with it and she wouldn't take any help I tried to give by putting steps and things out for her to use. We were so incredibly proud of how brave and strong she was. She was our little three-legged star! Growing into her new body. It took a little while for her fur to grow back, and there were a couple of weeks where we had to cover the house in towels because she an oozy cyst for a while where her stitches were, and she had to wear a donut to stop here licking her stitches which she wasn't impressed with, but soon all her stitches were out and she looked and felt like her old self again (minus a leg obviously). New Walkies Our old walks were too long for Sadie now as she was basically running everywhere so we found a new walk at Acton Park. She made lots of new doggy friends and found a new hobby that involved walking up and down all the little fishing jetties. An Island Christmas. Sadie's first milestone was making it to Christmas. We really weren't sure that she would. We spent Christmas on the Isle of Wight with the whole family including my Mum's two dogs: Shadow and Molly. Sadie got to see her doggy friends (my sister's dogs) and made two new ones in Shadow and Molly. She went to the beach and enjoyed her last Christmas dinner. It was a wonderful Christmas and we were so happy that Sadie got to celebrate it with us Another Op.
Doggy Days Out. We wanted to make sure that whatever time Sadie had left would be fun and happy. We went for lots of days out and she made even more doggy friends. We went to see the red kites at Nant-yr-arian. We went for fish and chips at the seaside. We rode the tram to the top of the Great Orme. Her last year was filled with adventure. Sadie's 12th Birthday! Against all the odds Sadie made it to her 12th birthday! We spent the day at the seaside, one of Sadie's favourite places. She had a birthday sausage and later a special birthday pizza all to herself. Almost a year before when we first learned that Sadie had cancer we never believed that we would be celebrating her 12th birthday, but we were so happy that we got to. It was such a lovely day and would be our final day out together. Farewell Sadie. Over the last couple of months a cough had slowly been creeping up on Sadie. Her lungs were finally losing their fight to cancer. She stopped being able to roll around on her back or sleep on the sofa, and her walks were becoming harder and harder work for her. On the 29th of June, two weeks after her 12th birthday, we decided that it was time to say goodbye. She was coughing all the time, she couldn't sleep and she wasn't happy. We spent her last day doing the things she loved. She had a gourmet dog dinner for her breakfast. We went for a walk in the park and saw some of her doggy friends. We bought her some mini scotch eggs and she scoffed the lot. The vet and nurse who put her to sleep knew her well and made her feel safe, and although it was extremely sad she was surrounded by love when she went.
Sadie was such a wonderful and special dog, with a beautiful soul. Everyone who met her loved her and she spread joy wherever she went. I will miss our walks and our adventures. I will miss seeing her tail wagging through the door when I come home. I will miss having her stare at me with her 'food' face while I'm eating. I will miss having to step over her at the top of the stairs. I will miss stroking her velvety ears. I will miss her beautiful face. Most of all - I will miss her. Sadie was the best doggy anyone could ask for. She was our beautiful little wiggles and we will love her always. Craft fair time is just around the corner once again and so I've been busy making all sorts of goodies to sell (I'll be writing a post about them this week so keep your eyes peeled). As such I haven't had much time to keep my blog updated so this is a catch-up on what's been happening.
You may be wondering why I've been doing all of my Christmas blog posts now at the end of January instead of after Christmas. Well it's because my wonderful boyfriend treated me to an amazing two week holiday in Saddell Castle in Scotland! We went for the first time in 2012 and loved it so much we've been saving to go back ever since. This time we took some friends with us for the first week, and also spent some of the holiday in a little cottage called Cul-na-shee. We saw some amazing wildlife whilst we were there and had almost every sort of weather imaginable! Here are some highlights from the trip, as it's such a beautiful place I can't help but share it with you: Making the most of the quietness of midweek, Sadie, Dad and I took a walk up Snowdon today. The weather wasn't great on the way up; it pretty much rained the whole way. At the top we were engulfed in cloud and the wind (which to be fair was at our backs so was actually being quite helpful) grew stronger and stronger. There wasn't much of a view from the top, and trying to take a photo at the summit was laughable in the wind, but no matter the weather conquering Snowdon is always fun. The main purpose of today's walk was so Sadie could walk to the highest point in Wales - now she can cross it off her doggy to-do list - go Sadie! |
