Welcome

to The Art Bunny Blog!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

IT'S CHRISTMAAAAAS!!! Well almost, so I made some cute little Christmas craft bits to sell at Brew Corner in Wrexham and Haven Cafe in Llandudno. It was a good excuse to use up a bunch of old craft stuff I had lying around and it was nice to just have some fun and be creative for a few days. The rockabilly robin magnets are definitely my favourite and I think I might make some other types of bird magnets in this style too. I also had a bit of fun doing a fancy photo shoot for them!

Roll on Christmas!

Lockdown 2020 - Personal Projects!

2020 - who knew! It's been a year none of us will ever forget that's for sure. It's hard to believe that the start of lockdown was way back at the end of March! During the lockdown I finished off quite a few art projects. Some are up on the website for you to see and some you'll have to wait until next year for (exciting stuff!). I also had fun making some personal arts and crafts things. Here are some of things I made during lockdown!
A rainbow for the NHS (complete with Zippy!).

Some new signs for the garden - one for Sadie's path and one for the hedgehog house.
A old fashioned street light for the fairy house made from matchsticks.
Some cute little ducks on a bar stool for a friend.
A set of nick-nack drawers for the kitchen featuring stuff that we love (that's Sadie's food face!).

Wrath of the Lichking model. . .

I wanted to make my boyfriend something special for his 40th birthday but what to make? Well a few years ago he asked me if could make him a model of the Lichking from World of Warcraft. I knew something like that would take me ages to make so I started making it three months before his birthday and I was only a week late in finshing it so not too bad!.
The base of the model is made from four layers of foam board covered in air drying clay. The body is made from air drying clay over a wire fame and the whole thing is painted in acrylic paint.
I've never made a clay sculpture of this size and detail before so a lot of it was guess work and trial and error. I'm really pleased with the end product. Some of the proportions arent exactly what they should be and I had to simplify some of the details but overall I think it looks awesome!

Lovely new shelves!

In an effort to improve sales of my craft items I now have a sort of mini shop inside my Mum's new cafe in Llandudno.

I bought a simple silver bathroom shelf unit, sprayed it purple and decorated it with ribbon and tiny hand made bunting and. . . viola! A fabulous bunting covered purple extravaganza! A most Art Bunny-esque shelf!

This is what the shelves looked like before I sprinkled them with Art Bunny magic!

Here are my lovely new craft shelves in their new home in Haven Cafe, Llandudno.
At the moment they're displaying my Christmas craft and a few other small craft stuff like flower owls and badges. If you're ever in the area please pop in and take a look.
You could pick up a special gift and enjoy a yummy piece of cake!

A New Sign.

Here's a little project I did over the summer. An old house sign needed a bit of refreshing so I painted over the old writing and made it better. Plus I painted all the black bits to make them look new again. Amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do!

Say hello to my Winter Ladies!

My favourite new addition to my Christmas craft collection are my Winter Ladies. Five pairs of adorable
Christmas tree decorations, each one with a name, a unique personality and a special talent. I didn't start out making smart and accomplished miniature women but that's what they became. So say hello to my Winter Ladies!
Picture
Amy is a florist who specialises in creating beautiful arrangements out of varieties of heather, many of which she grows herself. Matilda tends a small herd of goats and makes her own goat's milk cheese. She has won awards for her cranberry variety. They have been best friends since girlhood and enjoy meeting over cake and tea.
Picture
Eleanor is an avid knitter and crochet extraordinaire. She enjoys knitting tiny waistcoats for the neighbourhood cats. Phoebe is a daydreamer and writes children's books set in magical faraway lands about fairies and dragons and giants. They both met through their mutual love of nature and regularly take woodland walks together.
Picture
Esther makes award winning jams and marmalades from fruit she grows in her garden. She also makes very good scones to go with them. Daphne is an accomplished violinist and most enjoys playing traditional folk music. She sometimes plays with a small group called The Forest Folk. These two have been friends their whole lives and regularly find themselves in uncontrollable fits of giggles.
Picture
Florence is a gifted tennis player with an indefensible backhand, and although she never went pro she has tangled with the best of them. Katy is a sculptor who is inspired by the ocean and seaside landscape near her home. She works primarily in clay but also incorporates found items such as shells and driftwood. They met at a salsa dancing class and became firm friends.
Picture
Myrtle is a landscape painter who works mostly in water colours. She particularly enjoys painting rainy days and dramatic landscapes. Ava makes kites out of paper and bamboo and takes them to festivals the world over. Her favourite one is shaped like a windmill complete with rotating blades. These two have been friends since they were little girls and enjoy many happy evenings playing board games and cards.
They are all for sale on my Etsy page whilst stocks last!
