2025 was a very eventful year for me! I put on my first solo exhibition, I opened my shop, I painted a new mural - I did a lot of new and at times scary things in 2025 but it will definitely be a year I won't forget! Here are a few of the highlights...

Say hello to . . . . Rory! The Art Bunny Dinosaur finally has a name!
I put up a naming sheet in the shop a couple of months ago and today we pulled a name out of a basket and 'Rory' was the winner! Thank you to everyone who wrote down a name; it was so much fun seeing all of your suggestions! Rory is very happy with his new name and he and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Nadolig Llawen a Blwydden Newydd Da! My latest project is complete! Over the last few weeks I've been painting a space themed photo wall for Xplore! Science Discovery Centre in Wrexham to promote the new planetarium they're opening next year. It was painted across four equal sized wooden panels and pieced together on the wall. The names of the planets are in both English and Welsh and although I tried to sneak Pluto in there too they made me take it out (boo!).
Painting on wood was a bigger challenge than I expected as it really soaks up the paint so it took several layers to get bright colours. Jupiter especially has about four layers of paint in places. It was fun to do; I haven't done anything space themed for ages. This is going to sound weird but one of the bits I most proud of on this is the government logo I drew by hand at the bottom - it looks surprisingly accurate considering I drew it freehand! Hopefully it will inspire a new generation of space explorers to reach for the stars! I made another mural!!! That's right, I'm now on my third Wrexham mural! This time it's all about the Wrexham Art Treasures Exhibition of 1876. This one was a lot of fun to research and I learned so much about a big part of Wrexham's history that has largely been forgotten about. Below is a slide show that explains all the different details in the mural along with some fun facts about the exhibition itself. For a more in depth history about the exhibition I've done another blog post all about it here. I must say despite the cold, wet and windy weather and getting pooped on by pigeons twice, painting this mural was a much more pleasant experience than the last one. I was under a nice tunnel, the floor was solid and level, and this one was about a third the size of the Markets one. I love them both though, and who knows, maybe next time I get to paint a mural outdoors it will be in the summer!
This mural along with my Wrexham Markets mural both form part of the Wrexham Public Art Trail which is really becoming something truly special. It's such an honour to be have been able to add to the trail, especially with art that celebrates two very different but important parts of Wrexham's history. The Art Bunny Shop is OPEN!!! And it's so pretty!
I did it!!!I finally did it! Over 10 years ago I did a painting of a tiger which sparked the idea to do an exhibition of endangered animals and raise money for conservation and now it's finally here! After 6 years of painting and another 4 years trying to find somewhere to show it Face Up is finally on display and it looks amazing! I had an opening event on Saturday which was very exciting - a huge thank you to everyone that came! I know it sounds stupid but seeing the paintings on a wall makes them look like real paintings! A huge shout out and thank you to Adam from Ty Pawb who curated them for me and made the whole thing look so professional and amazing. I learned a lot from him about where to put things and why and I'm so grateful for his expertise. Face Up has the pleasure to be the first exhibition in the newly named Oriel Bach space at Ty Pawb in Wrexham. A few weeks ago it was just a little grey room being used for storage and now with a little greenery and some good lighting it is a fabulous little gallery! Another big shout out and thank you to Peter the manager at Ty Pawb for his help and enthusiasm. After so many years of struggling to find a good space it was so nice to finally find someone who was excited to help me and put up with my many many questions! I hope too that people will now see the potential of Oriel Bach and use it for more exhibitions and things. Of course the biggest thank you to my family who helped me pull it off and are always by biggest supporters and best customers! Especially my ever supportive boyfriend who is the only person to have seen these paintings before now and has been nagging me for years to get this show out there - well I finally have! And I've already got plans for my next one! Make sure to go and see it if you're in Wrexham 28th June - 12th July.
It's been a busy few months for me especially because I've been working on a new mural! Ty Pawb in Wrexham asked me to create a photo wall of Wrexham landmarks for people to take pictures of themselves in front of when they visit. It's for the National Eisteddfod which is coming to Wrexham this August but it will be there for anyone who wants to highlight their visit to Wrexham. They asked for a Wrexham skyline sort of thing with the Ty Pawb tower front and centre. It was a fun challenge especially as Wrexham has a lot of wide, flat landmarks and buildings and not so many tall ones, which made creating a skyline on a fairly square wall pretty difficult. I went for more of a collage in the end to make sure the whole wall was filled. I wanted the mural to be fun and colourful so I hyped up the colours and changed some of the darker ones. The Ty Pawb tower is black and grey in real life but I couldn't put a big black block in the middle of it all so I changed it to purple (which I definitely think they should change the actual tower to!). I was also had quite a tight time window to do it in as they wanted it finished before Focus Wales (a Wrexham music festival) started at the beginning of May and as it was the Easter Holidays (three weeks of them) I was in work almost every day. So I did it over a month but it actual took about 8 or 9 days to do. Knowing I didn't have much time to get it done I decided to keep it very simple and just do as much detail as was needed to make each landmark recognisable. As with all my paintings there are parts that I would love to add some more detail to but I'm still very happy with how it turned out. As a finishing touch Ty Pawb added some fake grass and a nice bench to sit on, along with the two Ty Pawb sheep to welcome people in! I think it looks great and it is has already seen some use with BBC Radio Wales using it to mark their time at Focus Wales! It was so nice to be asked to do this and I love that I was able to add another piece to Wrexham's ever growing array of public art! What's what on the wall? Here is a list of all the Wrexham landmarks featured on the wall. I was very impressed with how many Wrexham locals could identify them all whilst I was painting them - especially some of the more obscure ones!
