This is a new painting I did recently as an entry for the Wrexham Open Art Exhibition. I want to start doing more landscape painting so I thought the Wrexham open would be a good place to start. Dolbardarn Castle is in Llanberis near Snowdon. Built by Llywelyn ab Iorwerth in the thirteenth century it is a beautiful example of a welsh castle. This painting was done from a photo I took on a visit to the castle earlier this year. Initially I was going to do a more abstract less detailed painting but as much as I try I just can't help putting in detail. It's still not as 'perfect' as I would normally do it; I managed to leave some rough edges and abstract details and I'm really pleased with how it turned out. One of these days I will manage to stop being so pinickity about details and be more abstract I swear! Maybe . . . : ) I've also entered two other paintings of mine into the Wrexham Open - 'Love' and 'Joy': The Wrexham Open runs from 12th October - 16th December at Ty Pawb and Undegun in Wrexham. Anyone in the area please do check it out.
