A few weeks ago whilst clearing out the attic we found an old battered painting of London and the river Thames. It was covered in dust and cobwebs, and was a bit bent and scratched in places but it seemed a shame to throw it out so I decided to try and restore it.
Here it is now! Proudly displayed on our bedroom wall after who knows how long stuck up in the dark of the attic. There are still some scratches and stains but I think it gets away with it. Happy new home London painting!
(I'm going to see if I can find out a bit about it on the internet, it would be nice to know who painted it and when.) N.B. It turns out this was painted by an artist called Ron Folland, one of the most commercially successful artists of the 60's and 70's. He painted landscapes primarily of the countryside and villages, although also of London and Paris. I couldn't find out much about this particular picture other than it's called 'Tower Bridge'.

The new and improved badge board!
Whilst sorting out the attic a few weeks ago we came across a couple of old suitcases. I decided that these lovely battered old things would be great additions to my craft stall as display cases (you may have spotted one in my last couple of craft fair posts), and so I decided to have a go at 'up-cycling' one. Here is one as we found it.
This past Saturday I was at yet another fair this time in the lovely village of Malpas. I wasn't sure what to expect when it was billed as a 'village summer fair' but I was very impressed with the whole event! Despite an ominous dark grey sky in the morning the weather for most of the day was lovely and sunny, and even the rain did't stop the festivities in the afternoon! I had a lovely view of the arena from my stall! Here's some of the items I had to sell. My fabric hearts and bottle top keyrings were both very popular this time.
The Malpas Village Parade!Well as you can see from all these photos I had a pretty fun day at Malpas! It may not have been my most successful fair in terms of sales but it was definitely my most fun one in terms of fun! I met lots of nice people and a lovely dog called Bessie, and though I may have been thoroughly soaked by my gazebo whilst putting it away it did nothing to dampen my enjoyment! Thank you Malpas for a fabulous day! Some lovely birds to finish off!
Finished making some more felt badges for the Malpas Summer fair on Saturday. They may not make me a fortune but they are popular and they're just so pretty! Well this Saturday was my first craft fair of 2015 and it was certainly a memorable one! The sun was shining and there was lots of people all day; almost the perfect craft fair. Then there came the wind! Much of the afternoon was spent finding creative ways to keep my craft from blowing away, along with my gazebo, which seemed determined to take flight instead of staying put. Yet despite much of the blood behind drained from my arms from clinging to the gazebo for several hours, it was actually quite a nice little fair. During the morning I had quite a nice display of all my new craft items, which by midday had been greatly downsized and taped to the table. Thank God for masking tape!
I've a couple of summer craft fairs looming and so the last couple of months have been spent making lots of lovely new craft items to sell. I also wanted to make use of all the pretty fabrics I've been picking up over the last couple of years, so I made two varieties of colourful flower button signs. Above are the single squares featuring various fabrics and buttons, and below are what I'm calling 'flower danglers'. Hopefully people with find them as pretty as I do! I've also been working on some seaside themed craft items - I'll be putting photos up soon!
