NEW PAINTINGS!!! I recently completed two new paintings both featuring the North Wales coast.
The first is a from a photo I took of my old dog Sadie running along the beach in Llandudno when the wet send was reflecting the sky. As soon as I took this photo I new it would make a great painting. I did have a false start with this one. The first painting I started just wasn't going in the direction I wanted it to, so I decided to crap it half way though and start from scratch and I'm really glad I did because the finished painting was exactly what I had pictured in my head. The second painting is also from a photo I took many years ago of some cormorants and herring gulls sitting on wooden posts in the sea off the coast of Rhos-on-Sea. I tried hard to be loose and free with this one because I tend to be a bit pedantic over small details sometimes. It was a challenge to leave it a little rough around the edges but I did it and I love it! (The little painter inside me is finding it very hard too leave it be though!) Both of these paintings were a new challenge for me in as I haven't done many water based landscapes. It was fun finding the colours and textures of water in different situations. I found I really enjoy painting the sea and will definitely be doing it more in the future!
