Here was a nice wooden dresser for which I painted a single colour on the drawers. The dresser was nice enough as it was but adding just a bit of colour gives a completely new style. There is an extra section to this dresser that sits on top of it. This piece was painted with the following Farrow and Ball colour: Yeabridge Green
This is the finished design. I love the way the gold came out on the dragon, and it was fun to add art work. This cupboard did have a few scratches and dents but I think it just adds to its charm. I really like this piece. This piece was painted with the following Farrow and Ball colour:
Vardo/Pitch Black It seems our two weeks of sunshine are officially over. This is the view from my work shed today; wet. At least the garden still looks pretty in the rain. I was given a beautiful mirrored desk to paint recently. It wasn't in bad shape to begin with it just needed a clean and a new coat of paint to freshen it up. The top of the desk had a layer of vinyl on it that had to come off before I could paint it; it did not want to come off! After a battle of about half an hour the vinyl finally came off, and once I'd scrubbed what was left of the glue off the top the desk was ready to paint. The original plan with this desk was to paint over all of the gold detailing and then paint it back on later. A lot of the moulded detailing had gone a bit yellow with age but when painted over it started to look like new. The mirror section had to be dismantled to make painting it easier and neater. The desk also came with a stool that had to painted to match. It took 2-3 coats of paint to cover this desk fully (the gold bits needed a third coat). The finished product ended up slightly different from the original design. Instead of painting the gold back on we decided the desk looked much nicer without it. It looks a lot classier and fresher without the gold, and once the stool is reupholstered I think the whole thing will look almost brand new. This is another one of those pieces I wish I could keep for myself! This piece was painted with the following Farrow and Ball colour: Tallow
Say hello to the pain in my neck. This black table came with the brief 'spray paint it white' - four little words, so much hassle. You can see here the start of the undercoat. In order to protect my work space I created a plastic spray paint area and turned my shed into the set of Dexter. I will say one positive thing about this table; it had a very handy hole in the middle. Well, five cans of spray paint later the black refused to disappear and it was decided to just paint it white. They say 'you live and learn' and I learned never try to spray paint a black table white. Ever!
And this is my new favourite table! Isn't it beautiful! I wanted to create something that would look equally at home in a little girls bedroom, a grown up living room and a doll house. I absolutely adore this shade of pink; it's like candy floss and baby bunnies. I wanted to do a large statement design on the top rather than a small pattern here and there to give this table something to make it stand out. I also think it raises it above the level of 'girly' into 'ladylike'. Every so often I make something that I really want to keep for myself, and this was definitely one of those times. I love you flower table! This piece was painted with the following Farrow and Ball colours:
Cinder Rose/Tallow Although I've been busy painting furniture lately I still need to make craft items for my Etsy page. This is my latest stable sign which went all the way to California. I love the font on this sign, it's so adorable and girly. It was nice to make something small after working on so many large items recently.
I had to give this piece a good cleaning before I could paint it as it was very dusty. This photo shows a comparison between two glass door panels before and after I cleaned them. (The dog who is very helpfully demonstrating this is Elvis).
This is the cupboard after it has been painted with chalk paint. The back has yet to be done (I'm still deciding the best thing to do with it). There are also extra glass pieces to this and when the whole cupboard has been put back together I will take a good photo of it. Even half finished I think this cupboard looks great. This piece was painted with Annie Sloane Old White Chalk Paint As I said in my previous post most of the furniture I'll be painting comes with a design brief. This next piece came with a very specific one. I was given this table (the two holes are filled with glass panels) and told it was to be black with the two glass panels painted in a Jackson Pollock 'splatter' style. After I sanded it down I put two coats of primer on it.
This is how it turned out! I really like this table. The feel of it has completely changed from its original design and now it's modern, fun and ready for a new lifestyle. This piece was painted with the following Farrow and Ball colours:
