If you've been wondering where I've been for the past couple of months then allow me to fill you in! I have been embarking upon a new adventure in the land of furniture restoration. A new furniture shop will be opening soon in Ruthin called Bodhi Furniture and I am part of a team of people helping to restore furniture for them to sell. My part is to paint second hand furniture to give it a new lease of life. My first project was a mirror with a plain wooden frame. Here is what it looked like to begin with. I then removed the glass to make it easier to paint and sanded it down. All of the furniture I'll be revamping will be painted with Farrow and Ball paint to give a high quality finish. For many of the pieces I will be given a design brief however for a few I am given free reign, as was the case with this mirror. I decided to do a muted design with hummingbirds to give it a vintage look. Here is the finished piece. I added a vine pattern on the inside edge of the frame so that it would reflect in the mirror and give the frame some texture. As this was painted with tester pots (which only come in matt and not the eggshell finish that the rest of the pieces will be painted in) I added a coat of Annie Sloane wax to protect it and add a slight sheen. This piece marked the beginning of The Art Bunny/Bodhi Furniture adventure - long may it continue! This piece was painted with the following Farrow and Ball Colours: Oxford Stone/Dead Salmon/Stone Blue/Nancy's Blushes/Vert de Terre
